U.P. Yoddha fail to ride Rishank’s Super Raid as they lose to Delhi Dabang
New Delhi: U.P. Yoddha, playing their 10th game at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex, New Delhi, had to face defeat against Dabang Delhi with the scoreboard reading 27 – 36 .
The GMR group owned U.P. Franchise of the Vivo Pro Kabaddi League have two ties from their 9 games and they have won 3 of their last five matches, and look for a strong turn-around as they set to begin their home-leg at Greater Noida from October 5, 2019.
UP Yoddha led for most of the first half, but an all-out forced them go into the half-time with a score line of 10-14, with Dabang Delhi taking the lead for the first time in the match. With four and a half minutes remaining, Rishank Devadiga scored a Super Raid, giving the Yoddhas 4 points.
Today’s game started with UP Yoddha’s star raider, Monu Goyat opening the account for the home team with a two pointer. By the end of the first half, Monu had scored 6 bonus points. However, Dabang Delhi played a dominating game all through taking advantage of the Yoddha’s defensive lapses. The Yoddhas showed intent of a comeback, when they tackled Naveen Kumar for the first time in the match, at the beginning of the second half as they trailed 15-11. U.P. Yoddha thereafter again showed intent to make a comeback and made a couple of good tackles but couldn’t really manage to reduce the margin significantly in the second half, as Dabang Delhi continued to maintain their lead.
At the end of the first half the scoreboard stood at 10-14 in favour of Dabang Delhi. The second half saw Dabang Delhi invading into the Yoddhas both at offence as well as defence. Dabang Delhi, with this win, move to the top of the table.
