Second India Learn Golf Week Edition Records 12000 New Registrations across 26 Cities
Great Response at Lucknow’s The Palms Golf Club as youngsters from all walks of life get their first lessons in the game
Lucknow: The second edition of the India Learn Golf Week (ILGW), a nationwide weeklong programme mooted by the Golf Industry Association (GIA) to initiate 100,000 new golfers into the game by 2022, has received overwhelming enthusiasm across the 26 cities and 51 clubs that it was held at, with at least 12000 signing up for their first lessons in the game. This year’s ILGW was conducted on September 24-30, 2018.
The Palms Golf Club in the city where the ILGW was held for the first time, received an overwhelming response as both school going kids from the city’s Kunskapsskolan school and underprivileged children from nearby Nava Purva and Mahmoodpur villages had great fun getting their first golf lessons in the globally acclaimed Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of America designed curriculum.
“We are very excited with the enthusiasm received from all sections of society across the length and breadth of this country. With 19000 getting their first golfing lessons in the past two years we are well on course to achieve our target of 100,000 new golfers by 2022. The ILGW will only grow every year with more and more clubs finding value in the concept of an annual week focused on the uninitiated. We thank all the club captains, coaches, established stars who have lend their active support and the entire golfing fraternity for coming together to make the ILGW such a great success,” said Ms. Deepali Shah, President, Golf Industry Association (GIA).
